What is Sublimation?
Sublimation, specifically Dye Sublimation, represents a digital printing process in which artwork is initially printed on coated paper and subsequently heat-transferred onto specialized substrates or directly sublimated onto these substrates.
One of the most captivating aspects of this process lies in its ability to allow full customization of branding, particularly within the realm of apparel. Sublimation stands out as a transformative force, enabling the customization of garments for a wide array of events, whether they occur indoors or outdoors. Common applications of sublimation include field garments such as golf attire, soccer jerseys, basketball tops, netball uniforms, and even rugby socks.
Artwork Preparation
Preparation of artwork for sublimation entails:
- Utilizing high-resolution images, preferably at 300 dpi.
- Printing the artwork directly onto vinyl.
- Applying a clear resin onto the printed vinyl cut-out.
Advantages
Sublimation offers numerous advantages:
- Longevity
- Customization of numbers, letters, and graphics
- Absence of limitations in terms of color
- Ability to construct designs from start to finish
Limitations
However, sublimation does come with certain limitations, including:
- Variable turn-around time, contingent upon the volume of work.
